Natural resources minister Carl Sargeant has praised Welsh councils on the success of their recycling services. which surpass those in England and Northern Ireland.

The Recycling Carbon Index Report from Eunomia, released earlier in May, claims that Wales outperformed the other countries in the carbon emission reductions achieved through recycling.

The report shows Wales saved an average of 84kg CO2 per person in 2013-14 in comparison to 67kg in England and 65kg in Northern Ireland.

The index assesses the success of local authority recycling services by measuring the amount of each material that is recycled and then quantifying the CO2 saved per material.
